One useful way to think of the effect of
Pluto is through the myth
of Shiva the destroyer – and creator.
In order to create, we have to destroy.

You know I hate to be a prophet of doom: I think it’s just scaremongering. But I do have doubts about the state of the world now and in the next few years. I feel it behooves me to at least point out some upcoming astrology.

Pluto, the planet of power and transformation, is traveling through Capricorn, the sign of government, transnational institutions (banks, the UN), and in general the Establishment. This transit has been heightened by the Cardinal Climax, but Pluto will not leave Capricorn until 2020.

Pluto = “Whatever does not kill you, makes you stronger.”

Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008 – and the banks collapsed right on schedule (although they’ve risen again like those zombies in Night of the Living Dead).

The bankers are back and they
want to eat us up

Pluto will stay in Capricorn until 2020 and I expect it’ll take that long for our economic system to be destroyed and rebuilt. We already know the world is a totally different place to what we believed it to be five years ago.

Pluto also opposed the US Venus (money) several times over the last few years. US Venus is in Cancer (real estate), Pluto can act like a sucking drain: suddenly, no money.

Why am I telling you stuff that’s already happened? To give you some context for the following Pluto transits.
  • Pluto is going to conjunct the UK Sun and the Euro (currency) Sun in February 2013
  • and oppose the US Sun the following year (2014).
  • Before it does either of those things it’s going to square the French Sun, the Chinese Sun and the German Sun, starting this November and carrying on through 2012.

So you see, the planet who destroys and transforms is going to make exact aspects to the very hearts of first France, Germany and China, then Britain and the European currency, then the US.

Now it’s hard to say exactly what’s going to happen over the next few years, except that transformation is under way already. (No kidding.) Either we at least attempt to go with the flow of change or we will be dragged kicking and screaming into the future.

What makes things tricky to predict is that none of these countries existed in their current forms last time Pluto was in Capricorn, which was 1762-1778.  For a really excellent exploration of Pluto in Capricorn by market analyst and astrologer Ray Merriman (written in 2007 and horribly accurate), click here.

And so to this month.

September opens with a rather beautiful Grand Trine which allows energy to flow smoothly from the planet of luck, Jupiter, to Pluto to the Sun and Venus herself. Try to hook into that energy to get some of the positive benefits of Pluto. It may give you a bit of a steer on how to ride the next few years.

Remember, Pluto brings enormous, focused power as well as destruction.

The Sun, Venus, Mars and Mercury manage to avoid anything to confrontational with the outer planets until mid-month. Poor old Venus is the first in line on the 16th, but at least she has some protection from being in her own sign, Libra. Then it’s right back into the fray for that brave Sun who gets a nasty jab from Pluto on the 26th. At the very end of the month, Venus conjoins Saturn – actually rather a good thing for both of them. If you’re planning on getting hitched, you could try then. Mercury also squares Pluto on that day, so prepare for some home truths to be told.

Remember you will feel these energies more or less strongly depending on all the planets in your chart. I recommend reading the horoscope for your rising sign as well as your Sun sign. Hi Christina,
My son was on an archaeological dig at Caerleon this summer and pointed out some (to me) exciting things about Capricorn and August. Augustus, the first emperor of Rome was born a Capricornian and the II Legion Augusta were stationed at Caerleon. The sign of the legion was Capricorn. The first discovery of a Capricornian artifact was last year although the excavation started in 2008! The second (and most beautiful) Capricorn ring was found on 25 August (the Emperor’s month) this year see: http://www.britarch.ac.uk/caf/wikka.php?wakka=CLFBlog6. Have a look at DAY 19 for the photo. How’s that for Pluto (excavations, transformation etc etc) in Capricorn!

OK – from dyslexia to a First Class degree – that is a great example of positive Plutonic tranformation.
